Getting ideas out of the classroom and out from behind academic paywalls into the hands of people who might find it interesting and useful is something I am becoming more and more passionate about.
So… this semester while I was creating a new subject from youth work students I thought why not make the lecture into a podcast? So yeah, thats what I did!
Exploring Violence and Society is the subject and the name of the podcast. The subject and the podcast is designed with community services professionals in mind (Youth Workers, Counsellors, Teachers, Etc).
Through interviews and conversation with experts the podcast explores the problem of violence in contemporary society through a sociological lens in which “personal troubles” are connected to “public issues” (C.W. Mills, 1959, The Sociological Imagination). Topics covered include:
- Youth Violence
- The Domestic Violence Workforce
- The Spirituality of Peace
- Child Abuse
- Restorative Justice
- Human-Animal Violence
- Climate Justice
